When did you start working at the i.d.e.a. Museum and what is your role here?
I started working at the museum part time in March of 2017. My role here is twofold – I manage the VIP tours for the museum. These are public and private tours for adults who are private citizens, as well as representatives of numerous businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations. The common thread among tour guests is an interest in how the museum melds early learning and individual creativity with bringing families closer together. My other role involves recruiting and coordinating individuals and groups of volunteers who can assist the museum with special events such as VIP tours, the annual luncheon, board functions, Free Sundays, and Discovery Days. For the most part, these volunteers are working adults or retirees with specific skill sets and years of experience, who have a sincere desire to serve the communities in which they live and work.

What do you love most about working at the i.d.e.a. Museum and the work you do?
I really enjoy recruiting and working with adult volunteers. I’ve met people from many walks of life who have so much to offer the museum. I’m always amazed at how much knowledge and wisdom they have to impart.

What is your all-time favorite i.d.e.a. Museum exhibit?
I liked Sonoran Safari. It gave me the chance to feel like I was camping in the desert, but without the critters!

When you’re not at the museum, you are…
Doing yoga, taking road trips, attending concerts, watching romantic comedies, and hanging out with my adult kids.

What is your favorite piece or art or who is your favorite artist and why?
I like impressionists, especially Renoir. His paintings have both a vibrancy and a softness that draw me in. If I had to pick one favorite, it would probably be “Luncheon of the Boating Party.”
