Junkyard Jungle Family Day is this Saturday, April 27. Families will be treated to fun, special activities focused on learning about our rainforests and recycling. Additional activities included with museum admission.
We are particularly thrilled to offer three ways to be a recycling hero on this special day:
1. Drop off old electronics for recycling with Mesa’s ER2
9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the museum lobby
Fellow Mesa company, ER2, responsibly recycles a variety of electronic waste (almost anything with a plug). And they will be in the museum during Family Day! Please bring in your old electronics. Items they recycle include:
- Laptops
- Computer towers
- LCD monitors
- Smart phones
- Tablets
- LCD Flat Screen TVs
- DVD/Blu-Ray Players
- Audio equipment
- Video gaming equipment
- Video cameras
- Speakers and microphones
- VCR
Additionally, kids can take part in an activity placing RAMs into a PC and spin the prize wheel.
2. Make a pledge to protect our planet with Mesa Recycles
9 a.m. – 11 a.m. in the Recyclery
Join us in the Recyclery to learn more about how to keep our planet blooming and then take the pledge.
Mesa Recycles will be giving away T-shirts, too, while supplies last.
3. Turn your plastic bags into an eco-friendly bench
9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. in the museum lobby
We need another 166 pounds of bags to make our goal of collecting 500 pounds by Sunday, May 26.
If we collect that magic number, TREX® will donate an eco-friendly bench made with HDPE recycled lumber (made from recycled plastic bags) for our visitors to use.
On April 27, if you bring in your recyclable bags, you will be entered for a chance to win a Jumanji game and gift set from Popcornopolis. We are drawing a winner at 3:30 p.m. during Family Day.
