Let’s make it rain at home!

Did you ever visit the museum during “Weather or Not: Art with Atmosphere” exhibition last winter? It featured art and hands-on activities that encouraged learning about the water cycle, the difference between climate and weather, rainbows, types of weather, and more.

Getting Started

Materials

  • Watercolor paper (cardstock)
  • Black marker
  • Watercolor pencils
  • Bleeding tissue paper
  • Tape
  • Spray bottle with water

Create!

Step 1: Draw a cloud on your paper

Step 2: Fill in with watercolor pencils (the harder you press the better the rain)

Step 3: Attach your picture to the wall

Step 4: Spray with water and watch it rain!

Step 5: Lay flat to dry

Step 6: Hang for all to see!

One more time!

Step 1: Draw a cloud

Step 2: Place bleeding tissue on your cloud. Be sure to overlap!

Step 3: Dab water on tissue paper to make it stick.

Step 4: Attach your picture to the wall.

Step 5: Spray with water and watch it rain.

Step 6: Lay flat to dry.

Step 7: Remove tissue paper squares.

Step 8: Add to your gallery wall!
