MESA, Ariz. (April 2, 2019) – The i.d.e.a. Museum will offer daily workshops April 9-12 to help parents of young children nurture their children’s development. The activities are part of the Week of the Young Child™ established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children as an effort to highlight the importance of early childhood learning and available resources to parents.
The museum’s education team – for a third year – developed several drop-in, self-directed interactive sessions aimed at helping parents of young children identify developmental milestones and incorporate age-appropriate activities.
“Parents, as a child’s first teacher, can nurture and support their child’s development, creativity and imagination by providing them with opportunities to play, explore, and interact with their world. Children have a natural curiosity that can be supported by activities that allow them to discover, question and imagine. The activities that we provide for children and families provide parents with practical ideas and tips for creating these experiences for their children at home,“ said i.d.e.a. Museum Curator of Education Dena Milliron.
Daily themes include healthy eating, problem-solving, working together as a community and sharing family stories. Activities will be held in ArtVille’s Art Studio for children from ages 0-4 Parent/caregiver participation is required.
