The i.d.e.a. Museum will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 20, during the MLK Day holiday. Learn more about our half-price admission for the MLK Day holiday.
Visitors can also enjoy Mesa’s MLK Parade route, which ends near the museum.
Parking
Due to the parade, some streets will be closed near the museum between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Traffic can detour around the parade route by using Main Street, Mesa Drive, Country Club Drive and University Drive.
Parking at the museum will not be accessible from 1st Street; however, it will still be accessible from the south via Main Street. From Main Street, head north on Robson, then take a right (heading east) on Pepper Place.

Streets closed are:
- Center St- University to 1st St.
- MLK Jr. Way/3rd Place – Centennial Way to Drew St
- 2nd St- Centennial Hall Parking Lot to Drew St
- 2nd St- Robson to Country Club
- Robson-1st St to 2nd St
- 1st St- Centennial Way to Country Club
- Macdonald- 1st St. to Main (closed until 7 p.m.)
- Pepper Place at Macdonald
Most streets should reopen by 2 p.m. Macdonald, which will be closed between 1st Street and Main Street for the festival, will reopen by 7 p.m.
Parade details
The City of Mesa honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. annually with a parade in downtown Mesa, which this year takes place beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20. The parade route starts on Center Street near MLK Way and concludes at 1st Street and Robson, just north of the i.d.e.a Museum. The celebration will include Mesa City Councilmembers, marching bands, community leaders and organizations.
