Wonder Camp

June 2 – 6 | 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Ages 7 – 9

Led by Katelyn Jaworski, Museum Education Assistant

Wonder Camp is designed to inspire innovation through curiosity and creativity. Each day we will investigate the world around us by exploring a range of topics (like fashion, food, games and pets), brainstorm our own ideas, troubleshoot how to transform them into a prototype and test and share our creations with each other. Campers will also spend time in the museum each morning and end camp with open-end exploration at creativity centers with sensory, crafting and building options.

Project examples: Design a prototype for a new style of shoes; create your own board game; invent a delicious new popsicle flavor; create a toy that will keep your pet busy; imagine a new hairstyle by making a paper wig.

Tinker Camp

June 9 – 13 | 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Ages 8 – 10

Led by Noelle Mendoza, Museum Education Assistant

Get ready to transform trash into treasure at Tinker Camp! Campers will learn to creatively solve challenges and think outside the box while transforming a variety of ordinary recycled materials into extraordinary creations! Children will use unique tools to unleash their imagination and learn creative techniques to turn everyday waste into amazing works of art, functional creations and cool gadgets.

Project examples: Design and build a maze; build a unique junk bot; create a costume and mask; draw and cut your own design on our Glowforge laser cutters.

Emerging Artist Camp

June 16 – 20 | 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Ages 6 – 8

Led by KiAnna Colter, Museum Education Assistant

Emerging Artist Camp is a creative and fun-filled program where young artists will explore various art media in a supportive and imaginative environment. Children will have the chance to experiment with drawing, painting, clay, printmaking, fiber arts and more! Campers will practice and develop artistic skills and techniques through daily workshops and open-studio time. On the final day of camp, our young artists will curate a gallery exhibition to showcase their work for parents and peers.

Project examples: Explore different art media in our open-ended studio centers; build a unique creation out of clay, wire or paper mâché; experiment with different printmaking techniques; create a soft sculpture and dive into the world of fiber art.
