Hello Members and Friends,
We appreciate the kind notes you’ve been sharing with us during our extended intermission due to Arizona’s health crisis. We miss seeing you in person immensely, too!
With the high number of cases of COVID-19 in Maricopa County, we’ll be dark a little longer. However, we continue to develop activities online from our past exhibitions, so you can experience a little bit of the museum at home and stay connected with us.
For our members, our museum membership continues to be extended during the duration of our closure. We thank you for your patience, and we hope you’ve enjoyed our member exclusive content in your Monday emails.
For all our museum family, please be sure to check out our new flower mural in front of the museum (image above). We’ve posted a video on how to make these desert blooms, so that when you visit downtown, you may attach your artful creations, too. Details in our link, as well as on our social channels and website.
Our staff continues to work on making improvements for our reopening. Additionally, our education team is currently developing some virtual programs – to keep you engaged digitally – that will be unveiled in the weeks ahead. Our exhibition team is installing some new touchless and low-touch activities, so we’re ready to welcome you back for a fun experience.
Please note that while the City of Mesa continues – out of an abundance of caution – to keep many facilities including the i.d.e.a. Museum temporarily closed to the public until further notice, it remains committed to bringing back programs as soon as possible based on guidance from the state and health agencies.
In the meantime, please let us know if there are any exhibition activities you’d like us to share online. We love seeing the STEAM activities you are doing at home, so please keeping sending them to us. Just tag us on social media or send us an email.
Before you know it, we’ll be welcoming your smiling faces back for fun art and educational experiences. For now, do take care during this unprecedented time and please contact me anytime. Stay healthy!
Warmly,
Sunnee O’Rork
Executive Director
